Job Summary
Job Description
To prospective team members,
I am the medical director for Sound’s emergency medicine program at WhidbeyHealth, located in Coupeville, Washington, and have proudly been a part of Sound for over three years. I welcome interest from new graduates and experienced physicians desiring a career change. I want to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider your options:
People
- We are a collaborative and established team of seven physicians and two APPs.
- We thrive on the diversity of our clinicians, hailing from diverse geographic, educational, and training backgrounds. We continuously learn from one another and approach patient care with fresh perspectives.
- We are actively involved in multiple committees in the hospital, including trauma, peer review, and credentials.
- Our team enjoys diverse hobbies such as horse riding, cycling, and hiking, strongly emphasizing family. We gather a few times annually to unwind and bond as a team with our loved ones.
- Our physicians are all EM residency trained. We can consider very experienced family medicine graduates with ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
Practice
- We work in a critical access hospital with a level III trauma center and support from OBG and general surgery 24/7.
- We work alongside Sound’s hospital medicine team which does most of the admissions.
- We maintain strong connections through monthly team meetings alongside our hospital medicine partners.
- Recognizing the importance of family and spending time outdoors, we offer a flexible schedule. We’re always there to support each other when covering shifts. We’re seeking physicians willing to work primarily nights and around 60-80 hours/month.
- Average compensation for this role is $260 per hour.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- A focus on growth and development is a key feature of Sound, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
- We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.
