Greetings,

Maxim Healthcare is seeking a BC Intensivist to assist with an On Call Locums assignment with our Client in Oakland, CA in the ICU. The inpatient facility holds 8 beds in the ICU, there is no Pulmonary work involved, Phone calls varies on severity of illness of the patient(Average daily census per provider 4-6 patients, Call in uncommon possibly 1-2 times/month). Again this is strictly an on call position, we provide competitive pay and covered malpractice, please see some details below.

Requirements and Brief Description

  • Coverage from 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Home call plus in-house fees)
  • In performing Intensivist Coverage Services, each Physician's duties shall include:
  • Providing prompt response to calls from the Departments, including providing prompt availability for consults in each Department as requested by members of the Medical Staff specifically including the request for urgent bedside presence when requested and when clinically indicated;
  • Providing daily assessment of critically ill patients as clinically indicated and/or at the request of Hospital personnel and/or the Medical Staff, including daily assessment of all Patients currently on intensivist services case load each morning and during other hours as needed in order to establish priorities for transfers from ICU to a step-down unit if such transfer is required;
  • Collaborating with Hospital regarding surgical schedule for the following day and anticipated bed availability in the ICU as necessary based on current ICU bed availability;
  • Providing critical care admissions/discharge management including, but not limited to, timely completion of each patient's medication administration record prior to transfer from unit to unit within Hospital or transfer to another facility;
  • Ensuring appropriate follow-up care is available for Patients after a visit to the Departments at the time of transfer to a lower level of care. If the Patient has been in the ICU for more than 48 hours, a dictated transfer summary of ICU care will be provided including any transfer orders that are necessary to ensure that the Patient care is seamless without delays in necessary care. For patients with ICU stays of less than 48 hours, a written, legible, current problem list (or dictation) with orders can be used;
