Job Description:

As a Primary Care Physician at California Medical Facility (CMF), you’ll be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to incarcerated patients. Your duties will include diagnosing and treating various health conditions, prescribing medications, and educating patients about preventive measures. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with other healthcare professionals and maintain accurate medical records. Your role contributes to the overall well-being of the inmate population, emphasizing both clinical expertise and compassionate care

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough medical examinations and diagnose patients
• Develop treatment plans, including preventive care and health maintenance
• Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
• Educate patients and families about health issues and disease prevention
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using the EMR system (Cerner)
• Record patient history, examination findings, and treatment plans
• Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs)
• Consult with specialists when needed for complex cases
• Participate in clinical reviews to ensure high-quality care
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the facility
• Be prepared to handle medical emergencies within the facility
• Collaborate with security staff during emergencies
• Adhere to state licensure requirements and maintain a valid BC MD/DO license in California
• Comply with all relevant regulations and policies

Qualifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Certification in emergency cardiovascular care
• DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration): License to prescribe controlled substances
• Candidates must be Board Certified (BC) MD/DO in California
• At least 12 continuous months of experience within the last 3 years performing services similar in scope to those defined for this role
• Relevant work history and education details in the CV/Resume
• Submit a comprehensive CV/Resume with relevant work history (last 5 years) and education details
• Include any past experience providing services to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR)
• Provide 2 professional references from candidates’ reporting authority in the same or higher job classification
• References must be cleared before submission
• Current and clear State license: Front and back copies
• DEA license: Must be presented on the first day of assignment
