Bon Secours Mercy Health is searching for an Experienced Cardiothoracic surgeon to join our dynamic medical team in this beautiful area of coastal Virginia.

Experience Preferred - but can provide mentorship to new Fellowship Grad

Seeking a Physician to work with the team to help grow the current program and create a center for success! We offer a unique opportunity for a surgeon who is looking for supportive medical group and hospital leadership, a team who is rooting for your success, and a growing geographic area with immense potential.

The duties will include consulting with patients, discussing treatment options, performing surgical procedures, and monitoring patient recovery.

The ideal candidate is a skilled surgeon with fellowship training experience in heart and lung surgeries, also able to collaborate with our TAVR program. We are seeking candidates with excellent communication, collaboration, teamwork, problem-solving and decision-making skills, coupled with an ability to work under high pressure.

  • Full time 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday
  • Average patients per day - 5-10 inpatient and 1-5 outpatient
  • Caring for patients in OR, ICU and outpatient setting
  • Full Spectrum Cardiothoracic Care includes rounding, surgeries, hospital consults and new patient intake
  • Approx 60% Cardiac Surgery 40% Thoracic
  • DaVinci Robot in use
  • Dedicated CT staff and OR, dedicated Cardiac Anesthesia
  • Hybrid OR as well as Dedicated Vascular room
  • All adult-geriatric patients
  • EPIC EMR and MyChart for virtual health as appropriate
  • 120 to 150 cases per year

Qualifications

Experience Preferred - but can provide mentorship to new Fellowship Grad
Must have completed a U.S. Based Residency
Must be Cardiology and Thoracic Fellowship trained
Must be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S.

Working Hours

Full time 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday
Approx 15 on call days per month
