  • Other Details: A Level II trauma facility in Pennsylvania is seeking a board-certified Cardiac Electrophysiologist (DO/MD) for a high-priority, part-time locum tenens position. The role primarily involves procedural coverage (ablations, pacemakers, EPS, etc.), EKG/device report readings, and occasional outpatient clinic work. The physician will work alongside APP support, with a schedule of Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM, and potential weeknight or weekend call (minimal rounding, mostly on their own patients). The assignment requires ACLS/BLS certification, and at least one year of experience.

Job Responsibilities

- Provide cardiac electrophysiology (EP) procedures, including ablations, pacemaker implants, and EPS.
- Read and interpret EKGs, device reports, and cardiac monitors.
- Perform outpatient clinic duties as needed to improve patient access.
- Collaborate with APPs for inpatient and outpatient care.
- Participate in minimal on-call duties, primarily covering patients from recent procedures.
- Ensure timely discharges, especially for patients treated before the weekend.

Qualifications

- DO/MD with board certification in Cardiac Electrophysiology.
- Active Pennsylvania medical license (IMLC accepted).
- Minimum of one year of experience in cardiac electrophysiology.
- ACLS and BLS certifications required.
- Ability to obtain hospital privileges within 30 days.

Working Hours

- Regular hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
- Weeknight call (if needed): 5:30 PM – 12:00 AM or 5:30 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend call (if needed): 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM (24-hour)
- Estimated shifts per month: 15 (1–2 weeks of procedural work)

Skills

- Proficiency in performing electrophysiology procedures, including ablations and device implants.
- Strong diagnostic skills in reading EKGs, device reports, and monitors.
- Experience working with EMRs (Cerner PowerChart & Epic).
- Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently while ensuring high-quality patient care.
