About Locum Electrophysiology Physician Jobs:

General Job Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat patients with electrical abnormalities of the heart, such as arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation.
- Perform electrophysiology studies (EPS), catheter ablations and device implantations like pacemakers and defibrillators.
- Manage patients with implantable cardiac devices, including routine follow-ups and troubleshooting device malfunctions.
- Work closely with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient care.
- Provide emergency care for patients experiencing life-threatening arrhythmias.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of cardiac electrophysiology and related procedures.
- Expertise in performing complex procedures, such as radiofrequency ablation and device implantation.
- Ability to make quick, informed decisions, particularly in emergency cases.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams.
Minimum Education Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
- Completion of a fellowship in cardiology, with a subspecialty fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
- License & Certifications:
- Board certification in cardiovascular disease with additional certification in clinical cardiac electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Arizona.
Experience:
- While specific requirements may vary, most locum electrophysiologist positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
