Obesity Medicine Physician

Location: Fairfax, Virginia (with occasional travel to South Riding and Merrifield)

Practice: Prima Medicine

Schedule:

  • Standard hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
  • Flexible scheduling options: Full-time or part-time (minimum of 3 days per week)

Position Overview:

Prima Medicine is seeking a dedicated Obesity Medicine Physician to join our growing practice in Fairfax, Virginia. This position focuses on diagnosing and managing obesity and related conditions, utilizing evidence-based methods to help patients achieve sustainable health improvements. You will also provide general primary care services when applicable.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat obesity and related conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia).
  • Develop personalized treatment plans, incorporating lifestyle modifications, behavioral counseling, and nutritional guidance.
  • Prescribe and manage pharmacotherapy for weight management.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including dietitians
  • Offer primary care services such as preventive care, chronic disease management, and acute care.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Obesity Medicine (required within 2 years of program completion).
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Endocrinology.
  • 1-2 years of outpatient care experience, including chronic condition management and primary care.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based obesity treatment, including lifestyle interventions and pharmacotherapy.
