Anesthesiologist (Physician)
Location: Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, TX
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified Anesthesiologist to provide expert medical management and consultation during the perioperative period, pain medicine, and critical care medicine at Carl R. Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Certification:
- Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.)
- Accreditation: Degree must be accredited by one of the following:
- Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association
- Association of American Medical Colleges
- Liaison Committee on Medical Education
- Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association
- Any accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and ACGME at the time of degree completion
- Internship/Residency: Must have successfully completed an approved program accredited by:
- Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)
- Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association
Licensure & Certification:
- Board Certification: Must be Board Certified in Anesthesiology
- State License: Must hold a current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Texas
- DEA Certification: Required for those writing prescriptions for controlled substances
- Basic & Advanced Life Support Certifications: (must be hands-on, through AHA or Red Cross)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Experience:
- Must have actively practiced as an Anesthesiologist for at least two (2) years within the past three (3) years
- The two years of required experience must have ended no more than one year prior to application
Additional Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship: Required
- English Proficiency: Must be able to read, write, and speak English effectively
- Physical Capability: Must be physically capable of performing duties, including standing and/or sitting for extended periods
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert medical management and consultation in perioperative care, pain medicine, and critical care medicine
- Perform a wide variety of anesthesiology procedures and techniques, including administering assisted and controlled ventilation to patients with tracheotomies and other complex conditions
- Conduct artificial airway care and maintenance
- Interpret blood gas studies and adjust ventilator settings accordingly
- Administer special ventilation techniques such as positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) and intermittent mandatory ventilation (IMV)
- Assess respiratory status, evaluate effectiveness of therapy, and make treatment recommendations
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of pharmacology, including drug interactions, dosages, and administration methods
- Utilize medical software for data management, statistical applications, and patient records
