W are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Anesthesiologist to join its team on a locum tenens basis. This position involves providing anesthesia services for a variety of surgical cases in a rural critical access hospital setting. The role includes both OR work during the day and night call responsibilities with low callback frequency.
  • Low callback frequency during night calls (0-2 on average).
  • Supervision of 3-4 CRNAs depending on case volume.
  • Epidurals primarily for OB cases (200-250 births annually).
  • Travel and lodging reimbursement provided, with lodging capped.
  • 25-bed critical access hospital located in Coudersport, PA, offering a wide range of surgical services. The hospital features four operating rooms, an endoscopy lab, and a minor procedure room. It performs approximately 5,500 surgical procedures annually.

Job Responsibilities

Provide anesthesia care for surgical procedures in orthopedics, general surgery, ENT, OB/GYN, urology, gastroenterology, and more.
Administer and oversee regional blocks and epidurals.
Supervise CRNAs during daylight hours for scheduled surgeries.
Respond to callbacks during night call, primarily for OB cases such as C-sections.
Perform preoperative evaluations and postoperative pain management.
Maintain high standards of patient safety and care in a rural hospital setting.

Qualifications

Medical Degree (MD/DO) in Anesthesiology.
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Anesthesiology.
Active Pennsylvania medical license or eligibility for licensure.
DEA certification.
ACLS certification.
Minimum of 1 year of relevant clinical experience.
Proficiency in regional anesthesia techniques and epidurals.
Ability to supervise CRNAs effectively.

Working Hours

Day shifts: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Night call: 4:00 PM – 7:00 AM (30-minute response time).
Weekend call: 24-hour shifts (Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM).
