Job Description

Last Update: 10/25/24

To our prospective team members,

As the Medical Director at Physicians Regional Healthcare System’s Pine Ridge Road campus, I am excited to introduce an opportunity for anesthesiologists to join our dynamic and dedicated team at the largest and busiest of our three locations in Naples, Florida. Our 170-bed hospital has been a cornerstone of the community since 2001, and I’ve witnessed its growth and transformation over the years, especially the evolution of our anesthesia team. I want to share more about who we are and what we do — specifically about our people, practice, and purpose — as you consider your options.

People
  • At the Pine Ridge Rd campus, you’ll join a close-knit team of four dedicated anesthesiologists who share responsibilities and call duties equally throughout the year. Each physician enjoys a balanced work-life schedule with 13 weeks of vacation annually. One physician is always off each week, and the on-call physician is on the Thursday before vacation.
  • After taking calls on weekdays, you will always have the following day off, allowing for adequate rest and recovery. During the week, two physicians cover approximately 12 locations throughout the hospital alongside a team of highly skilled CRNAs. In this collaborative setting, you’ll work with CRNAs covering surgeons who may have another room to flip cases efficiently. To further support our team, we have a CRNA float who assists with interviewing patients and nerve blocks in the pre-op area, ensuring CRNAs get adequate breaks throughout the day.
  • We are looking for a board-certified candidate who is hardworking, adept at covering more than four locations, and has excellent communication skills with CRNAs, surgeons, and OR personnel. A strong candidate will take the initiative to check on the progress of cases throughout the day and help CRNAs as needed.
  • Weekend call coverage averages once a month, beginning on Friday morning and ending on Monday at 7 am. CRNAs are on-call during weekends to assist with cases from 7 am to 3 pm.
  • As an anesthesiologist at Pine Ridge, you are expected to see patients, complete their preoperative history and physicals, and collaborate closely with CRNAs to deliver the highest standard of care. Our strong sense of teamwork and commitment to patient care makes this a rewarding and fulfilling environment in which to work.
Practice
  • At the Pine Ridge Rd campus, we offer a diverse range of cases across eight operating rooms, three endoscopy suites, two cath labs, and interventional radiology suites supporting a comprehensive stroke program.
  • While we do not cover pediatrics, obstetrics, trauma, or cardiothoracic cases (handled by a dedicated team), we provide excellent coverage for general surgery, orthopedics, urology, vascular, gynecologic, and more.
  • Our ideal candidates will be confident in managing solo cases during nights and weekends and possess strong skills in ultrasound-guided nerve blocks. Additionally, you’ll be supervising and collaborating with CRNAs trained in regional anesthesia, ensuring comprehensive care across multiple locations within the hospital.
Purpose
  • We are driven by a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring a safe and efficient perioperative experience.
  • Our focus is on continuously improving the quality of care while fostering a professional and supportive environment for our staff.
  • As part of the Pine Ridge team, you will play a key role in helping us meet these goals while also having ample opportunity for progress development and leadership within our system.
  • Leadership opportunities include serving on various committees, such as the Medical Executive Committee, Peer Review, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Credentials, and Quality Council.
