We are looking for a Chief Medical Officer, for our Anesthesia Services line which falls under Hospital-Based Physician Services (HBP.)
This is opportunity is based out of the HCA Healthcare Brentwood office and requires that the individual reside in the Nashville area. There is approximately 50% travel. CMO reports to the President of Anesthesia Services.



JOB SUMMARY:
The Anesthesia Services Chief Medical Officer is a key member of the senior executive Anesthesia team, engaged in defining and leading the overall clinical and quality initiatives, outcomes, and compliance for the organization.

As head of the quality initiatives and clinical services of Anesthesia, the CMO serves as the physician leader in developing, executing, and monitoring quality and operational strategies needed to ensure patients served. This individual will work with a variety of subject matter experts, both internally and externally, to glean best practices in order to support strategy and execution. The CMO will also play a critical role in coordinating with HCA’s Clinical Services Group, Strategic Resources Group, Quality Department, Clinical Informatics, and other internal initiatives that may have clinical overlap with this effort.

Working with Group, Division, and facility administrative leadership as well as clinical leadership, this individual will be expected to provide executive level guidance, consultation, and direction to HCA leaders and other company officers specific to Anesthesia services.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience as a Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director or other similar position within a complex healthcare system with responsibility for quality and performance improvement in the service line. Formal management training and experience in Quality and Resource Management in health care desired.
  • Exemplary medical practice history as attested by peers, with a minimum of 10 years’ clinical practice required.
  • Ability to develop and implement service line dashboards and scorecards in accordance with professionally established quality metrics
  • Ability to create pathways both clinical and process focused to improve patient care, utilization and throughput.
  • Ability to define a peer review work stream with educational feedback for our clinicians.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Meets regularly with Division and facility administration, Division medical directors and key stakeholders to provide program performance update and to strengthen program integration by addressing the concerns, clinical needs and goals for the Anesthesia service line.
  • Experience with quality reporting systems
  • Knowledge of hospital and physician compensation models
  • Experience in designing clinical processes and key performance indicators
  • Service orientation with business partners
  • Demonstrated success in working within a matrixed environment where influence over authority prevails
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with Group Presidents, HCA Physician Services Group (PSG) President and Group Vice Presidents, Division Presidents, CFOs, CMOs and Hospital CEOs, CFOs, CMOs and COOs
  • Will work closely with Compliance, Human Resources, Business Development and Legal Operations Counsel on all engagements, as needed
