Open Rank Clinical Academic Anesthesiologist – No Call, No Weekends, No Nights Flex Position


The Department of Anesthesiology, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking an anesthesiologist for a faculty position to provide Anesthesia care for patients in the UT Health Multispecialty and Research Hospital (MSRH), UT ambulatory sites, and other clinical venues as developed, Monday through Friday as needed.

  • Participate in weekday Operating Room case coverage in keeping with the standard for the Department.
  • Oversee and direct patient care provided by Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and resident physicians.
  • Participate in administrative and committee service opportunities.
  • Provide occasional resident/student training in the clinical setting.
  • Pursue continuing education sufficient to stay abreast of new technology and medical advances.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD, DO or Foreign Equivalent
  • 48 months of Anesthesiology Residency Training or
  • 12 months of Preliminary Residency Training and 36 months of Anesthesiology Residency Training
  • Texas Medical License or eligible to obtain licensure
  • Board Certification or board eligible in Anesthesiology
  • Participation in Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA) if applicable
  • Valid DEA Registration Number (Controlled Substance Registration Certificate)
  • ACLS certified or obtaining certification

  • Compensation includes malpractice, health (BCBS PPO), dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, FSA benefits (estimated additional value of 17%).
  • Base compensation starts at $480,000 - $525,000+ depending on experience and skillset.
  • Call shifts and extended time paid additionally at higher rates. Home call stipends available.
  • Flexible scheduling and partial FTE available.
  • Leave package includes 3 weeks of PTO, 3 weeks of holidays, 8 hrs/month of sick leave, and family leave up to 6 weeks if applicable. PTO accumulates at a greater rate with years of service.
