Job Description

Last Update: 5/22/24
My name is Jason Long with ProTouch Staffing. We have a Cardiac Center we are partnered with in Central Arkansas in need of a Locum CV Anesthesiologist.

**Importantly, this Anesthesiologist must be available to cover 07/15-07/19.**

Schedule/Availability Requirements:
  • Mon - Fri 7a-3p
  • PROVIDER MUST BE AVAILABLE TO COVER: 7/15-7/19

Details:
  • Setting: Level II Trauma Center, Strong CV program
  • FTE: 1.0
  • Duties: Performing anesthesia in CV cases, supervising CV CRNA(s), performing TEEs, and placing epidurals.
  • Required Procedures: Facile with TEE and comfortable doing all CV cases, excluding transplants, including Ecmo and thoracic cases. Able to perform epidurals.
  • EMR: CERNER
  • Support Staff: CV CRNA team and CV MD team.
  • Reason for Coverage: Open dates internal providers cannot cover.

Additional Details / Questions Answered by Facility:
  • Ratio of MDs to CRNAs on a daily basis? ¾-1
  • Are there any times during the day/on-call that our provider will be running their own room? Occasionally, if the need arises but someone will take over your supervision of the CRNAs.
  • Any responsibilities for cases aside from cardiac/vascular/thoracic? Possibly, if the CV caseload is down on a certain day.
  • Do we have any idea of typical volumes of cases, including open hearts? Two ORs running most of the day. Will get case volume and send.
  • Is a cardiac fellowship required? Is a TEE certification required? I don't believe fellowship is required but TEE certification would be helpful.
  • Open to non-licensed candidates? Can we license/privilege simultaneously? If they have an Arkansas license it would obviously help with expediting the process.
  • Regarding call: What are the start and end times of the weeknight and weekend primary and backup pager calls? Not needed.
  • Is this 100% supervision? YES
  • What TEE system is used? Phillips with x8 probes? Siemens
  • case volume per day in general, and how many of them will be cardiac cases.: Average case volume is 60 with 8-10 CV Plus TEEs, intubations, a-lines.
  • Locums do structural hearts
  • What is ratio for supervision between MD and CRNA. 1:3 Supervision model
  • Can you confirm this position is 100% supervised. Yes
  • Are 10 hr shifts 7a-5p an option with OT after 50? Shifts are 7a-3p, historically locums have been the first out at 3pm
  • Would locums be doing OB or pediatrics? - No OB or Peds
Requirements:
  • Board Certified - REQUIRED
  • Active AR License - REQUIRED (not accepting IMLC)
  • DEA - REQUIRED
  • Clean Malpractice/Background - PREFERRED
  • Availability at time of name clear - REQUIRED
  • Must be available to cover 7/15 - 7/19 to avoid being redirected
