The Department of Anesthesiology, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking an anesthesiologist for a faculty position to provide Anesthesia care for patients in the UT Health Multispecialty and Research Hospital (MSRH), UT ambulatory sites, and other clinical venues as developed, Monday through Friday as needed.


  • Participate in weekday and weekend call coverage in keeping with the standard for the Department.
  • Teaching and Instruction of residents and medical students in anesthesia techniques and practices.
  • Oversee and direct patient care provided by Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs).
  • Participate in administrative and committee service opportunities.
  • Provide resident training in clinical setting. Pursue didactic lectures, simulation training, and/or workshop opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship to residents as assigned, with customary assignment of 1 or 2 residents per year.
  • Pursue scholarly activity sufficient to stay abreast of new technology and medical advances in anesthesiology.

Required Qualifications:

· MD, DO or Foreign Equivalent

· 48 months of Anesthesiology Residency Training or

· 12 months of Preliminary Residency Training and 36 months of Anesthesiology Residency Training

· Texas Medical License or eligible to obtain licensure

· Board Certification or board eligible in Anesthesiology

· Valid DEA Registration Number (Controlled Substance Registration Certificate)

· ACLS certified or obtaining certification

· Compensation includes malpractice, health (BCBS PPO), dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, FSA benefits (estimated additional value of 17%)

· Base compensation minimum at $378,000, M-F, 8-hour shifts. Flex scheduling available upon inquiry.

· Call shifts and extended time paid additionally at higher rates. Home call stipends available.

· Average Compensation $459,000 – $537,000 depending on rank, subspecialty, and call shifts; even greater earning potential available.

· Leave package includes 3 weeks of PTO, 3 weeks of holidays, 8 hrs/month of sick leave, and family leave up to 6 weeks if applicable. PTO accumulates at a greater rate with years of service.
