Medical Search International is seeking: Anesthesiologist
June 2023 ongoing, minimum 5-7 shifts/month
M-F, weekends may be an option. Would prefer daytime availability in addition to weekly evening/overnight availability. However, daytime only candidates would also be considered.
Types of Cases- Total joints, robotic surgeries, multi-level spine, plastics, general surgery, vascular (carotid endarterectomies, HD fistulas), VATS lobectomies, urgent cases such as choles, ureteral stents, hip fractures, etc.
Average Case Volume/week: about 20 cases including a mix of endoscopy and OR. Average 1-2 c sections plus 2-4 labor epidurals per 24 hour OB call. OB call taken once per week at most. Anesthesiologist stays in-house while covering running epidurals only.
Providing intra-op anesthesia for a variety of cases: orthopedic, urology, general, spine, non-vascular cranis, GYN, thoracic, vascular. No trauma, very rare pediatrics (none under age 2y). May be asked to work in endoscopy doing EGDs, colonoscopies and ERCPs. Overall, patient population is higher acuity and may have chronic conditions such as cardiac disease, obesity, end-stage renal disease; or acute processes such as sepsis, intracranial bleeding, or other ICU-level needs. Additionally, time may be spent in Labor & Delivery ward, doing routine epidurals and C-sections. OB patients may have obesity, hypertension, Pre-eclampsia, diabetes, etc. More complex OB patients are referred out.
Required Procedures: Peripheral nerve blocks, spinals, thoracic and lumbar epidurals, labor epidurals. Occasional arterial lines and central lines.
EMR: Cerner
Support Staff: Daytime and Evening Anesthesia techs. AMGSC anesthesiologist always available for questions and support. Anesthesiologist covering L&D can serve as help/second pair of hands in challenging cases (as long as they are not immediately needed in L&D). Physician-only practice. No CRNAs or AAs at the facility. No supervision
