The Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in coastal Charleston, SC is seeking a pediatric cardiothoracic anesthesiologist to join our cohesive, highly functioning group. The position is a full-time, academic, multi-disciplinary team-based practice including resident and fellow clinical and didactic education.

The division of Pediatric Anesthesiology has been rapidly expanding since the opening of the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and the Summey Medical Pavilion Ambulatory Surgical facilities. It excels in the full range of pediatric diagnostic, interventional catheterization, and surgical procedures for acquired and congenital cardiac diseases. The division treats patients from birth through adolescence and, in the case of congenital heart disease, into adulthood. Our comprehensive surgery program is the only one in South Carolina and has achieved an outstanding overall 30-day survival rate.

Job Requirements:

  • American Board of Anesthesiology Certified is required
  • Pediatric anesthesiology subspeciality fellowship training with board certification or eligibility
  • Pediatric cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship or extensive experience is required
  • Eligibility for South Carolina licensure
  • Strong clinical, education and interpersonal skills that will enable one to work collaboratively with colleagues and be a leader within the department and institution
  • Research experience and interests are preferred but not required
