Patient-Centered Treatment
Our Patient-Centered Treatment program uses a two-pronged approach to address the medical and behavioral aspects of opioid addiction. This Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) uses Methadone or Buprenorphine (aka: Suboxone) to address a patient’s physical dependence on Opioids, and team-based Behavioral Counseling to address a patient’s psychological dependence.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking a Regional Addiction Medicine Medical Director for 36+ hours a week based in Denver, Colorado, with responsibility for multiple clinic sites and telehealth services. Our outpatient treatment and recovery is supported by FDA-approved methadone. This position has a flexible schedule with a minimum of 3 days onsite at the clinic, but alternative schedules can be discussed as well.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
GREAT candidates for the position will have:
- A history of demonstrated success in a professional clinical or medical environment, including experience with multi-site management and telehealth.
- A highly motivated self-starter & fast learner, especially in telehealth technologies and regulations.
- Exceeds customer/team expectation.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively via telehealth platforms.
- Excellent Decision Making & Problem Solving Skills.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, especially in the context of telehealth documentation.
- Problem analysis and assessment.
- Time management.
- Preferable Fellowship Trained in Addiction Medicine.
- ABAM Certified or Eligible.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in Colorado.
- One to three years of documented experience in the provision of service to persons who are addicted to alcohol or other drugs, and one year of experience in treatment of opioid addiction.
- Board Certified or Eligible in Addiction Medicine.
- Experience with telehealth platforms and regulations.

Job Responsibilities
Screen patients for common medical co-morbidities and evaluate co-existing medical conditions to identify potential medication impact/drug interactions, to include over-the-counter (OTC) medications, across all sites and telehealth.
Prescribe and titrate the appropriate dosage of methadone or suboxone consistent with the patient’s medical and addiction history to establish a maintenance dose, adhering to all telehealth regulations.
Order dose increases, decreases, detoxification, or supervised withdrawal after assessment of the patient and his/her current treatment history, for both in-person and telehealth patients.
Write medical orders based upon the individual needs of the patient and sign off on all medical orders within 72 hours. Review medical therapy and document those activities in the patient’s chart for all clinics and telehealth.
Whenever necessary, collaborate and coordinate care with other physicians, clinics or hospitals participating in the treatment of program patients, including those utilizing telehealth services.
Provide consultation to medical, clinical, and administrative staff in formulation and implementation of each patient’s medical treatment across all assigned clinics and telehealth.
Solicit feedback from clinical and administrative staff regarding patient requests and changes in patient behavior for all clinics and telehealth.
As requested, conduct in-service training and community education (participate in and periodically lead community consultation and mental health education as it relates to substance abuse), including telehealth training and best practices.
Provide oversight and leadership to medical staff across multiple clinic locations and telehealth services.
Qualifications
One to three years of documented experience in the provision of service to persons who are addicted to alcohol or other drugs, and one year of experience in treatment of opioid addiction.
Board Certified or Eligible in Addiction Medicine.
Experience with telehealth platforms and regulations.
