Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health, slated to open in early 2025, is seeking an exceptional and well-credentialed Chief Medical Officer to join our administrative team and lead our medical staff and patient care programs. The ideal candidate will reside and practice in the Washington metropolitan area and have at least 15+ years of clinical practice experience. CMO or comparable leadership experience is preferred.

Reporting to the CEO, the CMO will have administrative responsibility and oversight for monitoring and ensuring uniform and continuity of patient care within the professional medical services and integrated delivery system of CHRMC and GW Health. The CMO is also responsible for collaborating with George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (GW MFA) on patient care, education, and research.

Position Requirements:

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school
  • Master’s or Physician Executive advanced degree or certification preferred (MBA, MHA, MPH, MMM, FACHE)
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program
  • Current board certification specialty in specialty of training
  • Active District of Columbia medical license
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to lead, mentor and manage medical, clinical and hospital staff
  • Experience in hospital operations, medical staff policies and procedures, and quality and utilization

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and leadership of the medical staff and care management programs at CHRMC GWH
  • Develop and recommend changes in policies, clinical programs, facilities, and equipment related to patient care
  • Support Chief Quality Officer in translating Hospital Patient Safety and QI programs into sustainable, effective and measurable actions
  • Work closely with the Medical Executive Committee on strategic direction, policies, and committee appointments
  • Oversee credentialing, medical management, and clinical evaluation activities
  • Represent clinical activities of the Hospital to the Governing Board
  • Ensure prioritization of Patient Satisfaction and HCAHPS activities
  • Participate in continuing development, implementation, and utilization of clinical information technology
  • Establish and monitor the extensive procedures required by The Joint Commission and D.C. Department of Health
  • Support the CEO and Board of Governors

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health, opening in early 2025, will be the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years. This teaching hospital will integrate clinical care with existing providers, The George Washington University Hospital and the Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. Additionally, options are underway for a future ambulatory facility in Ward 7. This clinical integration will establish a robust system of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

The $434.4 million full-service hospital will include 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for physician offices, clinics, a community space, a 500-car garage and a helipad for emergency transports. CHRMC GW Health is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services (UHS), one of the largest hospital and healthcare management companies.
