Orlando Health Cancer Institute is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Scientific Officer to develop a robust, comprehensive and diverse portfolio of Clinical Trials, including industry supported trials, encompassing cytokine therapy, cellular therapies and intra-tumoral therapies. The Research Leader is a practicing medical oncologist who will join our comprehensive team of subspecialists. As a leader in cancer care, we are committed to advancing research and providing cutting-edge treatments to our patients. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with our dynamic team and to contribute to the expansion and implementation of clinical trials, and the development of a Phase I Program for Orlando Health Cancer Institute.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and oversee the Oncology Research Program including clinical trials and to develop a Phase 1 Program within the Cancer Institute.

- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, researchers, and industry partners.

- Collaborate with the research team to identify potential clinical trial opportunities and cellular therapy advancements.

- Expand, Design and implement protocols for clinical trials and cellular therapy studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Work closely with a dyad partner and core team in the operational aspects of clinical trials, including patient recruitment, data collection, and monitoring.

- Provide guidance and mentorship to research staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards.

- Stay updated on the latest advancements in clinical trials and cellular therapy, and apply this knowledge to enhance research programs.

- Collaborate with other departments within the Cancer Institute to promote interdisciplinary research initiatives.

-Identify and mentor fellows and faculty to grow the research program and create a culture of research.

Qualifications:

- MD with a proven track record in clinical care and research

- Extensive experience in clinical trials and cellular/immuno-therapy research, preferably in an oncology setting.

- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines related to clinical trials.

- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and drive research initiatives.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Familiarity with electronic data capture systems and clinical trial management software.

Role Requirements:

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in medical oncology and hematology
  • Unrestricted FL medical license (or ability to obtain one) and DEA
  • Not a J-1 visa position
