Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist (NP/PA)

Location: Pennsylvania
Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday 7 AM - 6 PM + night call | Weekend call 7 AM - 7 AM with rounding

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team as a First Assist. This role is crucial to our surgical team, supporting both scheduled and emergency cases.

Key Responsibilities

• First Assist in CABG, Thoracic, AVR, TAVR, and Aortic cases
• Endoscopic vein harvesting
• Participate in scheduled surgical cases & on-call rotations
• Round on hospitalized patients and collaborate with the care team
• Work independently while maintaining excellent communication with surgeons

Qualifications

• Board Certified NP or PA
• Active Pennsylvania State License (Required)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPR
• DEA license required

• Level II Trauma Center with advanced surgical facilities

• Collaborative Team: Two floor APPs and two surgical APPs typically on-site
