Locum Cardiothoracic Surgery APP
Location: Near Norfolk, VA
Duration: Feb 12 - Aug 31
Schedule: Nights 7p-7a, The provider(s) must be able to offer 8-15 shifts/month, at minimum - 3 nights week, 1-2 weekends per month
Call: On call for CSOR emergencies. Call hours are M-F 7p-7a and Weekends Saturday
Patient Volume:
Daily Patient load Weekdays: 4
• Daily Patient load Weeknights: 2
• Daily Patient load Weekends: 6
• Average number of Weeknight callbacks: 50%
• Average number of Weekday admissions: 8
• Average number of Weeknight admissions: 1
• Average number of Weekend callbacks: 50%
• Average number of Weekend admissions: 4
Scope: See pre-op patients and complete H&P; enter orders and patient care notes, round on CTS patients in CSICU post-operatively and entering rounding notes as appropriate, perform bedside procedures as needed; be readily available for urgent CTS needs on IMCU floors (MRTs); provide open communication and status updates to surgeons and intensivist teams
• OR First Assist, endoscopic vein harvest, first assist, chest closure, suturing, enter postoperative orders.
• OR call 2-3 days/week
• Weekend coverage (OR) 1-2 weekends/month
• Case mix includes: CABG, valves, heart transplants, Ao dissections, lungs, MCS, TAVR.
• We do ~ 2300 cases/year.
• Candidate MUST be proficient in EVH (Maquet or Terumo)

Requirements (boards, license): BC or Truly Board Eligible with VA license
