A leading Level 1 Trauma Center in Detroit, MI is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant for night inpatient coverage in Neuroendovascular Surgery. This locum position supports the team during permanent recruitment and offers the chance to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting.

Key Details

  • Pay Rate: $115/hour

  • Assignment Type: Locum Tenens

  • Schedule: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, 2–3 shifts/week

  • Weekend Requirement: Every 4th weekend

  • Shift Length: 12 hours (in-house coverage)

  • Setting: Inpatient, hospital-based

  • Patient Volume: ~10 patients/day

  • Trauma Level: Level 1 Trauma Center

  • Stroke Center Designation: Comprehensive

  • EMR System: Cerner/eCare

  • Duration: May 1, 2025 – August 30, 2025 (with option to extend)

  • Stipends: Travel and housing stipends may be discussed for non-local providers

Job Responsibilities

Perform inpatient rounding, consults, and post-operative management
No OR/first assist duties required
Manage acute neurosurgical/stroke emergencies, elective procedures, and ICU care
Work independently with off-site physician supervision
Simple procedures only (e.g., minor suture/laceration repair)

Qualifications

Board Certified PA ( NCCPA)– Required
Active MI license – Required
BLS, ENLS, NIHSS certifications – Required
DEA with Michigan address – Required
Minimum 2-3 shifts per week availability – Required
Clean background – Required for credentialing
Previous neuro or ICU experience – Highly Preferred
No new graduates accepted

Working Hours

Shifts: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Schedule: 2–3 shifts per week plus every 4th weekend
