Locums Cardiovascular Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Locums Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join a dedicated Cardiovascular Surgery team in Peoria, Illinois. This is a surgical-first assist position, with an emphasis on autonomy in the OR and expertise in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) for CABG procedures. Providers must be able to function independently from the moment they arrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in Cardiovascular OR procedures, including CABG surgeries
• Perform Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) independently
• Collaborate closely with cardiovascular surgeons and surgical team
• Provide post-operative patient care and rounding as needed
• No in-house requirement; availability for late evening surgical support preferred
• Minimal overnight cases expected

Schedule

• No call or in-house requirement
• Flexible coverage model
• Anticipated need mostly late afternoon to early evening

Requirements

• NP or PA with strong Cardiothoracic Surgery experience
• Proficiency in EVH required – must be ready to function independently in OR upon arrival
• Active Illinois license
• DEA registration required
• Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) required
