Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington is recruiting a Certified Physician Assistant or ARNP to join our Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery team.
Responsibilities
Virginia Mason Medical Center is seeking a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to join our Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery team. Our surgeons specialize in liver, bile duct and pancreas surgery. This role is primarily clinic-based, with the opportunity to participate in inpatient care on the surgical wards. The APP will play a key role in managing preoperative and postoperative HPB surgery patients, clinical-based procedures, developing care pathways, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
Position Highlights
- Clinic-focused role with the opportunity to participate in inpatient care as needed.
- Provider will manage a panel of non-surgical, preoperative, and postoperative patients, ensuring continuity of care for complex HPB conditions.
- Opportunity to perform office-based procedures.
- Work closely with a highly specialized liver, bile duct and pancreas surgery team consisting of four board-certified surgeons and one RN.
- Exposure to a broad spectrum of benign and malignant HPB conditions.
- Active involvement in medical education, working closely with medical students, general surgery residents, and an HPB surgery fellow. Teaching and mentoring trainees is a key component of this role.
- Collaborative and mentorship-driven environment with access to regional and national conferences and tumor boards.
- Potential to participate in clinical research and publication
Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner (ARNP):
- Washington State Registered Nurse License and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License required.
- DEA and NPI numbers may be required, along with prescriptive authority.
- Strong foundation in surgical patient management, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Experience in surgical oncology, gastroenterology, or HPB surgery preferred.
Physician Assistant (PA-C):
- Certification as a Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority in Washington State.
- Strong clinical skills with the ability to work autonomously in a high-acuity surgical setting.
- Prior experience in pre and postoperative management of general surgery, surgical oncology, or hepatobiliary surgery preferred.
Team & Program Details
- The HPB Surgery team consists of four board-certified surgeons and one RN, working within the broader General Surgery division and the General Surgery Residency Program at Virginia Mason Medical Center.
- Our team provides tertiary-level HPB care, including robotic, laparoscopic, and open surgery.
- The program emphasizes mentorship, education, professional growth, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Pay Range
$61.53 - $77.23 /hour
