A highly regarded healthcare facility in New Jersey is currently seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) for a specialized night coverage role in general surgery and surgical subspecialties. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic inpatient setting, delivering critical patient care and supporting diverse surgical services.

About the Opportunity

  • Shift: Night (7:00 PM - 8:00 AM)
  • Schedule: Flexible
  • Setting: Inpatient, no first assist or OR duties required
  • Duration: 10-12 months, with an open end date
  • Location: Edison, NJ
  • Licenses Required: NJ License, DEA/CDS
  • On-Call: None

Responsibilities

The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for:

  • Providing overnight care and medical management for patients in surgical services, including thoracic, surgical oncology, head and neck oncology, colorectal, bariatric, general, orthopedic, and plastic surgery cases.
  • Managing post-operative and pre-operative tasks, including drain and chest tube management and VAC dressing placement.
  • Monitoring critically ill post-operative patients and identifying acute complications.
  • Conducting early morning rounding and delivering comprehensive reports to the daytime team.
  • Performing consults (routine and emergent), medication reconciliation, and ongoing patient monitoring.
  • Collaborating with nursing staff and updating attending surgeons on patient status.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of inpatient or surgical experience as an APP.
  • Master's degree in Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant studies.
  • Active New Jersey License and DEA/CDS certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Proficiency in:Managing critically ill surgical patients.
  • Wound VAC and JP drain management.
  • Placement and troubleshooting of NGTs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
