Client located in the Twin Cities is looking to fill their need for an experienced Physician Assistant to join their surgical team. 13 Week contract with option to extend. Must be willing to float between 3 facilities.

Job Responsibilities

The surgical physician assistant (PA) provides high-quality surgical care by working closely with surgeons and the surgical team throughout the patient care continuum. This role involves pre-operative assessments, assisting in surgery, and managing post-operative care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.



Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Operative Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients, including physical exams, medical history reviews, and diagnostic tests, to prepare them for surgery.
Surgical Assistance: Assist surgeons during operative procedures by handling instruments, suturing, and performing certain procedures as directed.
Post-Operative Care: Monitor patients in the recovery area, manage post-surgical complications, and provide follow-up care, including wound care and pain management.
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, recovery processes, and post-operative care instructions.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of patient evaluations, procedures, and care plans in electronic health records.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care and effective communication among healthcare providers.
Research and Quality Improvement: Participate in clinical research initiatives and contribute to quality improvement projects within the surgical department.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Licensure: Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant and national certification (NCCPA).
Experience: Previous experience in surgical settings or related fields is preferred.
Skills: Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills, ability to work under pressure, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in electronic health records.

Working Hours

M-F No weeknights
Weekday clinic hours + call rotation on weekends (possibly 2x per 3 month contract) 4 hours of rounding on both Sat and Sun
8 hour days (8am-4:30pm)
