Job Description
Our client, a not-for-profit teaching hospital serving an ethnically diverse residential neighborhood of New York City, is hiring a Physician Assistant (PA) Internal Medicine to support Primary Care of the Ambulatory Clinic.
Responsibilities:
- Assessing patients prior to surgical procedures to ensure they're fit for surgeries
- Answering patient questions about surgical procedures and offering reassurance to nervous patients

Communicating with surgical physicians ahead of procedures to determine what tools and equipment the need

Preparing the operating room and making sure they have the correct number of tools and equipment necessary

Holding tools for physicians during surgery and handing them items as needed

Helping surgical physicians manipulate internal bodily structures to enhance visibility and make it easier to perform internal procedures

Overseeing minor or routine procedures on their own, including draining abscesses, overseeing laparoscopies, performing biopsies or conducting burn excisions

Stitching up patients using sutures and surgical knots

Coordinating discharge activities and ensuring the health of a patient before approving their discharge from hospital
- Helping patients schedule follow-up appointments before patients get discharged
Requirements:
- Graduate of an Accredited PA program
