An experienced Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery is needed for a locum tenens opportunity in Reading, Pennsylvania, with the potential for permanent placement. This role requires a PA with strong surgical skills in CVOR and vascular surgery who can work independently in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The provider will be responsible for scheduled clinic hours plus call coverage.

Job Responsibilities

Provide cardiothoracic and vascular surgical support in a hospital and clinic setting
Independently perform endoscopic and open vessel harvesting (radial and saphenous vein harvesting)
Assist in CABG, TAVR, TACR, ECMO, and vascular surgery procedures
Conduct preoperative and postoperative patient care
Perform wound care, venous cutdowns, suturing, chest tube insertion/removal, thoracentesis, and cardiac resuscitation
Assist in Cath Lab and bedside invasive procedures
Provide rotating call coverage for invasive and surgical procedures
Participate in quality programs, training, and continuing medical education

Qualifications

Licensure: Active PA License required
Experience:
Must have experience with atrial vein harvesting (VERY IMPORTANT)
Proficient in endoscopic and open vessel harvesting, including radial
Strong surgical skills in CVOR and vascular surgery
Experience with CABG EVH, TAVR, TACR, and ECMO required

Working Hours

Scheduled Clinic Hours Plus Call
Most commonly Thursday and Friday, with variable call coverage
Call schedule will rotate as needed

Skills

Strong surgical technique and efficiency in CVOR
Ability to operate independently in high-acuity cases
Proficiency in ECMO management, vessel harvesting, and invasive procedures
ECG interpretation and resuscitation experience
