The Physician Assistant practices medicine in a family practice Clinic and other settings where the Physician renders care, under the direction and responsible supervision of a Licensed Physician (May be MD or DO). The Physician Assistant evaluates and monitors health status, performs diagnostic and therapeutic services, provides age appropriate education and counseling for disease prevention, risk reduction and health maintenance and coordinates referrals for specialty care or social service support.

SAFETY WORK PRACTICES

  1. Follows safe and healthful work practices.
  2. Complies with organization-wide and department-specific policies and procedures, safety and health standards, policies and procedures and regulations.
  3. Documents and reports unsafe patient and other occurrences that do not meet standards of care to appropriate Supervisor.
  4. Identifies and reports current or potential unsafe/unhealthy practices and conditions to appropriate Supervisor.
  5. Reports all accidents, near accidents, injuries, work-related illnesses, special occurrences, and other emergencies that the employee is involved in immediately to the appropriate Supervisor.
  6. Reports malfunctioning equipment/supplies to Supervisor in a timely fashion, removing the equipment from service where appropriate.
  7. Utilizes assistive devices and principles of body mechanics when lifting or moving patients or other equipment.
  8. Completes periodic occupational health questionnaires, safety assessments and evaluations as required.
  9. Maintains personal appearance and personal hygiene as stated in HR Policy D-4, Dress Code, and applicable department policy while on duty. Maintains these standards when serving in any capacity while representing.
  10. Completes annual Mandatory Education.
  11. Participates in performance improvement activities.
  12. Completes annual unit-specific competencies.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered or eligible to register with the Minnesota State Board of Medical Examiners. Certified or eligible for certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Maintenance of the continuing medical education requirements of the NCCPA. Eligibility for registration as a Physician Assistant in Wisconsin may be required. BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or Military Training Network within ninety (90) days of hire.
