**Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner opening in Iowa**
* Located in ***Mason City, IA*** - 2 hours north of Des Moines
* Full time, permanent position
**Position Summary:**
Address the mental health needs of behavioral health clients including psychiatric evaluation of clients, prescribing and managing medications, as well as case management, assessing and assisting with staff training needs.
**Essential Duties & Resppnsibilities:**
* Conducts mental health histories and assessments
* Formulates mental health treatment plan and manages acute and chronic mental health needs.
* Examines clients to determine general physical condition, following standard medical procedures.
* Organizes data concerning clients family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from clients, relatives, and other sources.
* Order laboratory and other special diagnostic test and evaluates data obtained.
* Administers medications and therapeutic agents, necessary to implement a treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitation regimen ordered by and within the scope of licensure.
* Leads and/or participates in periodic staff conferences to present case histories; confer with internal external members of therapy team to develop comprehensive evaluations or plan pertinent therapy programs to provider maximum benefits for each patient.
* Conducts care of psychiatric/mental health emergencies and initiates arrangements for continuing care of referral to appropriate facility.
**Qualifications:**
* Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Iowa
* Graduation from an accredited masters level Nurse Practitioner program with a specialty in psychiatry.
* Clinical experience preferred
* BLS/ACLS/ATLS
