A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join their growing SOS Team. In this role, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for serving adults with serious mental health diagnoses, substance use disorders, and co-morbid medical conditions.

About the Opportunity:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 9am to 5pm
  • Patient Population: Homeless / several mental health issue adults

Responsibilities:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) will:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of individuals served by the SOS team
  • Evaluate mental health status, medication adherence, and potential co-occurring disorders
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications as part of the overall treatment plan
  • Educate individuals and their families about medications, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence
  • Work with the SOS team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed
  • Develop crisis prevention and intervention strategies to minimize hospitalizations and emergency room visits
  • Educate individuals and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in compliance with relevant regulations and standards
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree
  • NYS Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) license
  • Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
  • Patient oriented
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
  • Flexible to travel within Manhattan

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with the Medically Underserved population
