**Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Opening Near NYC** * Located in ***Spring Valley, NY*** - 35m from New York City * Full time, permanent * Minimum of 3 years of professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting, plus at least one year of psychiatric nurse practitioner experience. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities: - Assesses the patients general mental health condition by collecting medical histories, administering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and identifying issues that may be affecting the patients state of mental health - Interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and creates an individualized therapeutic plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on evidence-based standards of care and practice guidelines - Prescribes psychotropic drugs and related medications to treat symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve functional health status based on clinical indications of a patients status, including results of diagnostic and lab tests - Identifies, measures, and monitors clinical and related behavioral outcomes to determine the effectiveness and appropriateness of the plan of care - Educates patients and /or family as to the nature of the psychiatric condition and provides appropriate instructions on proper intervention and treatment - Collaborates with the psychiatrists and other staff members in the team in managing acute and long-term medical and psychiatric/mental health needs of patients - Documents medical history and treatment plans effectively, concisely and accurately.
