APP-Wound Care job opportunity in New Mexico Located in Artesia, NM General surgery/ Wound Care Job Details: Full time, permanent opening Job Summary: The Wound Care Nurse Practitioner will provide advanced wound care management in a dedicated clinic setting. This role involves assessing and treating chronic and acute wounds, minor injuries, and other conditions related to wound management. The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care and optimal healing outcomes. Primary Role/Functions: Wound Care Nurse Practitioner duties will be conducted under the certification of specialty. The Nurse Practitioner undertake a variety of responsibilities in their efforts to help patients Duties to include but not limited to: Debride wounds using sharp, enzymatic, autolytic, or surgical methods that can be safely completed in the clinic, including all associated procedures. Apply and manage topical wound care treatments and wound management products. Recommend and direct associated services to enhance wound healing outcomes, including lab work, radiologic tests, vascular tests, referrals, and use of advanced wound care technologies like Vacuum Assisted Closure devices. Interpret diagnostic tests and recommend appropriate follow-up care. Prescribe medications, Durable Medical Equipment (DME), and supplies needed for wound healing and prevention within scope of practice and as per collaborative agreements. Educate patients and their families on wound care, including topical and systemic management. Provide regular updates to referring physicians, care managers, and other healthcare providers on patient status and treatment progress. Serve as a resource for planning, policies, and decisions related to patient care. Perform other duties as assigned. Required skills/abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a clinical caseload effectively. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides oversight of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants. May have oversight of Residents, Interns, or Students. Communicate and develop positive collaboration with medical staff. AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position. Information Management: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security. Risk Management/Quality Management/Safety: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations. Minimum qualifications for position: Education- MSN required, Licensed Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Practitioner in NM. Work Experience- Area if assigned specialty. Current approval by the Board of Nursing to perform medical acts. Training- Clinic experience in area of Specialty License/Certification- Certification in Wound Care (WOCN, CWCN, or equivalent) preferred. ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Clinic-based role with potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and medical hazards. Some travel may be required beyond the clinic setting. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during patient care. Capable of performing physical tasks related to wound care, including bending, squatting, and lifting. Fine motor skills for medical procedures, such as sterile dressing changes. Good hearing and vision (aids permitted) for performing physical assessments.
