ECU Health Physicians, The Maynard Children’s Hospital at ECU Health Medical Center, and ECU Health Beaufort Hospital located in Washington, North Carolina, are seeking a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant experience to join their expanding service line. New graduate NNP or PNP-AC applicants will be considered. Physician Assistant applicants must have at least 2 years of NICU experience.

  • Clinical responsibilities when providing coverage will include rounding and coordination of care from admission to discharge for all newborn patients, attendance all at risk deliveries, and participation in the resuscitation, stabilization, and transfer of critically ill neonates as needed
  • Procedures will include Intubation, UVC/UAC placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, chest tube placement/removal, peripheral arterial puncture, peripheral arterial cannulation, PICC insertion, ventricular reservoir tap, and lumbar puncture
  • Transfer support provided by ECU Health Medical Center
  • Initial and ongoing competencies maintained through intermittent rotations at the Maynard Children’s Hospital, the tertiary care center for all children in eastern North Carolina, hosting a level IV NICU, level I pediatric trauma program, and all subspecialist coverage
  • Schedule includes an average of (12) 24-hour unrestricted shifts per month, with quarterly return to the Children’s Hospital for continued competency

Applicant Requirements:

  • PNP-AC, NNP—will consider new graduates
  • Physician Assistant- At least 2 years of NICU Experience
  • NC RN licensure & NC Nurse Practitioner or NC licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • National Board Certification as a NNP, PNP-AC, or as PA required, including maintenance
  • 2+ years of experience in health care setting
  • Applicants will be required to have BLS certification from The American Heart Association
