Job Description

Provide comprehensive management of pediatric cardiovascular ICU patients.

Participate in rounds, documentation, and family/provider communication.

Assist with specialized procedures such as IV placement, arterial lines, and (as permitted) intubation or central line access.

Care for patients pre-/post-op, including transplant and ECMO support.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, fellows, and other APPs.

Utilize EPIC EMR for all documentation and orders.

Maintain availability for a minimum of 4 shifts/month, with 50% night/weekend coverage.

Setting: Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (PCICU)
-
Hospital Type: Children’s, Academic, Level I Trauma Center
-
Support Team: 1 attending, 3 NPs, 1 fellow per team; overnight team includes 1 attending and 2 NPs
-
Average Patient Load: 17–18 patients/day (8 neonatal beds)

Annual Surgical Volume: ~350 surgical cases

Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, and 8% Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Job Responsibilities

Qualifications
Certifications:
BLS & PALS (Required)
DEA License (Schedule II, CA)
California CSR
Experience:
Minimum 1 year in a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU
Familiarity with ECMO, CRRT, and complex cardiac care
Heart failure experience is a plus
Working Hours
Variable 12-hour shifts (Days, Nights, Weekends, Holidays)
Skills
Comfortable caring for high-acuity neonatal to adult congenital patients
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Team player with flexibility for night/weekend scheduling
