Midwest Interventional Spine Specialists is a busy, well-respected, successful Interventional Spine & Pain Management practice. We are looking for a motivated Physician Assistant that is interested in being a vital part of our team. Our practice is one of the largest Interventional Spine & Pain Management practices in the area (just 30 minutes from Chicago), providing comprehensive interventional pain management services to its patients. We are primarily interventional, and we are comfortable with ALL the newer technologies. We require an Indiana License, and would like to have someone that has experience working with busy and caring physicians. Our physicians work in 4 locations in Northwest Indiana (Lake and Porter counties) so travel to these locations is required.

Close collaboration with the doctors is common, and easy text and phone contact is encouraged for patient-related issues. The doctors have a pleasant, respectful relationship with our extenders as evidenced by our prior NPs having been with us for 10-18 years.

Job Responsibilities

Evaluate and manage patients with complex diagnosis by conducting thorough medical histories, perform complete physical examinations (where indicated), order diagnostic tests, imaging to develop a differential diagnosis, and implementation of a multidisciplinary plan including ordering interventional care and pharmacological management.
Assesses test/lab data on patients to establish a record of the patient's current health status and develops a working diagnosis and treatment plan with direct review by a physician.
Performs routine procedures, such as joint and trigger point injections, orders specific pain management therapies (epidurals, spinal injections, neuromodulation therapies, etc.),
Working independently but collaborating with physicians, evaluating follow-up patients and discussing treatment plans, working closely with clinic staff to provide the best medical care for our patients, prescribing medications, and actively monitoring these medications. However, our use of opioids is very limited and discouraged. Evaluating patients for their appropriateness for procedures and surgeries for their chronic pain. All of the above will be taught to you so that you will become comfortable within 3-6 months with independently managing patients.
