Duties and responsibilities

1. Philosophy

7. Safety/Risk Management

8. Duties

− In the OR/Hospital:

− First assisting in the operating room

− Responsible for closing wounds, prepping, draping, and wound care

− Responsible for putting orders in for surgical cases and post op orders and discharge

instructions as well

− Responsible for rounding on patients when admitted to hospital

− Ensures a smooth day in the operating room by instructing nurses, techs and reps on

planned surgical procedures

− In the clinic:

− Helps coordinate clinics on Monday and Wednesday

− Taking patient histories, making sure their medical history is up to date

− Helps data entry into EMR for patients including diagnosis, physical exams and treatment

plans

− Ensures that coding and billing are accurate before finalizing notes

− Has knowledge on how to prep patients for various types of injections as well as using the

ultrasound machine

− I run my own clinic on Thursday where I see patients on my own in the office. These include

follow ups, post ops, pre ops, injections and new patients

− Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and Red Flags

− Urgent Care:

− Seeing patients on a first come first serve basis

− Responsible to come up with treatment plans, diagnostic orders, etc.

− In the office:

− Patient phone calls (mri results, lab results, etc.)

− Medication refills

− Maintain CPR certification for the entire office

Qualifications − Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians

− Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and

general public

− Ability to make decisions and solve problems in a timely manner.

Requirements Required

− Masters degree in Medical Science from an accredited PA Program

− NCCPA certified

− IL and CS states licenses as well as DEA licenses

− Strong ethical and moral character references

Preferred

− Two years of previous operating room experience

− Orthopedic experience preferred

− Computer literacy
