Women’s Health Physician Assistant (PA) (Part-Time)

A Women’s Health Physician Assistant (PA) is needed for a part-time outpatient role in San Rafael, CA.

Salary and Benefits for Part-Time (24 hrs/week)

  • Hourly Rate: $66 to $77 (higher rates may be offered to experienced providers who are fluent in Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • 16 to 20 patients per day, women’s health primary care outpatient.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or ability to speak medical Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Provide direct patient care for reproductive and Women’s Health patients.
  • Performs mix of both Women’s Health and Primary Care across a woman’s lifespan.
  • Appropriately refer patients to Gynecology physicians and/or other outside specialists.
  • Collaborate with non-Women’s Health providers in a consultation and educational capacity.
  • EMR system is EPIC

Requirements
Clinical Skills:

    • Bilingual English/Spanish is desired.
    • Proficiency in taking a sexual history.
    • Proficiency in contraceptive counseling, considering underlying medical conditions, with a patient-centered approach.
    • Proficiency in taking a family history relevant to Women’s Health.
    • Evaluation, diagnosis, and management/treatment of the following conditions:
      • Vaginitis, urinary tract infection.
      • Sexually transmitted infections.
      • Abnormal uterine bleeding, PCOS and myomas.
      • Pregnancy of unknown location, rule out ectopic pregnancy.
      • Urinary complaints such as incontinence, overactive bladder, painful bladder syndrome.
      • Chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis.
      • Adnexal masses, including rule out ovarian torsion.
      • Dyspareunia, sexual dysfunction.
      • Menopause, vasomotor symptoms, hormone therapy.
      • Infertility and pre-conception counseling.
      • Breast problems.
      • Pelvic organ prolapse.

  • Procedural Skills:
    • Pelvic exam including external, bimanual, and speculum exam.
    • Clinical breast exam.
    • Collection and performance of wet mount, swabs for STI testing.
    • Insertion and removal of current FDA approved intrauterine devices.
    • Insertion and removal of subdermal contraceptive implants, with appropriate certification.
    • Paracervical block.
    • Endometrial biopsy.
    • Experience with vulvar biopsies preferred.
    • Experience with exam and evaluation of pelvic organ prolapse, including straight catheterization for post-void residual preferred.
    • Experience in fitting, insertion, and removal of pessaries preferred.
    • Experience in vulvar incision and drainage, insertion of Word catheter preferred.
  • DEA License
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-licensure experience required
  • Experience in community health setting highly preferred
  • Active Physician’s Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse Certification.
  • A valid and unrestricted license issued by the Nursing Board of California or Physician’s Assistant Board of California to practice medicine.
