A healthcare organization in New Jersey is currently seeking a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to join their growing Neurology team at one of their practices. In this role, the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to epilepsy patients in both an inpatient and outpatient setting.

About the Opportunity:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 9am to 5pm - there is on call required for this role that you also get paid extra for!

Responsibilities:

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) will:

  • Performing complete history and physical examinations on patients within the outpatient clinic and the medical centers
  • Performing the general workup of the patient to include ordering appropriate diagnostic imaging, laboratory tests, interpretation of the studies and gathering the appropriate data for decision making
  • Clearly discriminating between abnormal and normal findings when evaluating the history, physical examination and laboratory tests
  • Identifying patient problems and develop further treatment plans and modalities
  • Making complete entries in the EMR utilizing evidence- based practice
  • Prescribing, adjusting, or discontinuing medications, treatments, studies as appropriate
  • Providing counseling, education and instruction to patients and their families regarding their diagnosis and treatment plans
  • Performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Making routine rounds and documents findings on inpatients as assigned, identifying and addressing all current problems
  • Assisting with discharge planning and performs discharge summaries as required
  • Performing other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • NJS Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • ACLS and BLS certifications
  • DEA registration
  • Familiarity with EMR charting
  • New grad FNPs are encouraged if interested in learning the specialty!

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Neuroscience Nursing and Critical Care experience
