Thomas Jefferson University seeks to fill a full-time 9-month non-tenure, Assistant/Associate Professor and Program Director of Fashion Design BS and Fashion Design Technology MS with an anticipated start date of August 2025. The educational responsibilities will include teaching a range of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Fashion Design Program Director will work closely with the School Dean to guide the Fashion Design programs into the strategic vision and direction of the School of Design & Engineering, within Kanbar College of Design, Engineering & Commerce. As an Assistant/Associate Professor, the faculty member will teach fashion design courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the Fashion Design programs, working with the faculty to drive curricular innovation aligned with future industry trends, grow student enrollment and develop industry opportunities.

As the program director, responsibilities will encompass all programmatic considerations, including but not limited to: programmatic outreach, developing industry connections to benefit the programs, programmatic orientation activities, academic advising, course planning-staffing-scheduling, programmatic assessment, overseeing multiple recruitment events annually, and managing fashion shows/industry outreach. Candidates should have a record of excellence in teaching at the college level and demonstrated commitment to the pedagogies of active student learning. The non-tenure track expectations includes the maintenance of a sustainable program of research/scholarship/creative work. Opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students’ participation in the faculty member’s research/scholarship/creative work are highly desirable.

The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field with five or more years of experience in the fashion industry.

Current knowledge of the fashion industry and thorough knowledge of the fashion design process from creative-concept development through product/collection development are required. Related industry experience and university-level teaching experience is preferred. Required for this position are exceptional technical and artistic skills in fashion design.
