Local Team Collaboration:
- Become part of a cohesive and long-standing team of Pulmonary/Critical Care physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) with a diverse mix of ICU clinical practice time and pulmonary consultation at Texas Health Dallas
- Work alongside our team of physicians and APPs to care for patients in the 24-bed medical and 12-bed surgical unit with cardio and cardiovascular patients. The hospital is a Level II trauma hospital and comprehensive stroke center. APPs also cover 1 LTAC and 1 rehab facility. This position is a mix of inpatient ICU practice and inpatient pulmonary consultation.
Qualifications:
- Certified Physician Assistant
- Prior ICU APP practice experience with ICU procedure experience (thoracentesis, chest tubes, central lines, intubation)
- Authorized to work in the United States
Practice in the Heart of the Community
Scheduling:
- Monday thru Friday day shift, 8 a.m. – 4:30/5 p.m. at the hospital followed by 7 days (Monday thru Sunday 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.) at the LTAC, followed by a week off.
- APP’s work 12 of 21 days with only 1 in 3 weekends
Key Responsibilities:
- Rounding on pulmonary consult patients at the hospital, non-ICU patients, with occasional evaluation of patients that need transfer to the floors and some procedural skills. Rounding at LTAC and rehab facility caring for a mix of ICU and non-ICU patients including long-term ventilation and trach patients.
- Rotate with two full-time APP colleagues on this rotation. Physicians are available to address questions and assist with new consults.
- The hospital census averages 12-15 patients with new consults daily. LTAC census is 8-12 and rehab census is 0-4. EMR is NextGen.
