APP Hospitalist position in Pennsylvania

Full Time
OB DUTIES:
Provides direct patient care for any patients admitted, observed, etc., in to the hospitalist Service for treatment.
Applies Advanced professional practice knowledge and skills appropriate for Inpatient care setting.
Able to multitask between ED Admissions, answering floor calls and collaborating with ICU Team to trouble shoot critical issues at night. (Back up Call supervising hospitalist and pulmonary critical care physician available over the phone)
Be able to lead ACLS team during inpatient code Alerts (ED physician in-house available for intubation and emergency central lines. Attend Rapid Response and Stroke Alerts ( Upmc Telemedicine Teamavailable for overnight consults and supervision with Strokes)
Communicates effectively, both verbally and in documentation.
Demonstrates critical thinking in all areas of professional practice.
Learns to incorporate acceptable standards of professional practice as well as health system's goals to improve patient safety, quality and satisfaction.
Formulates an independent plan of care and able to assess the Acuity of patients being admitted for proper disposition.
Demonstrates initiative and seeks formal and informal opportunities to improve clinical practice.
Seeks guidance and asks questions to continuously improve patient care and treatment protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
Minimum of 1 year experience as a Physician Assistant preferred
Maintain a Physician Assistant license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, both Medical and Osteopathic preferred
Collaborative agreement approved through the state within 3 months of start date required
National certification required
DEA required within 6 months of start date
Current Healthcare provider CPR through the American Heart Association required at time of hire
Maintains ACLS and PALS certification preferred
OR
Master s Degree in Nursing required
Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure required
Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner from a board-recognized national certification organization (as per the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing) which requires the passing of a national certifying examination in the particular clinic specialty area in which the applicant is seeking certification by the board
Healthcare Provider CPR certification from American Heart Association required
Minimum of (1) year experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred
Maintain current ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Past Experience in critical care areas (Medical or surgical) or a Critical Care fellowship is desirable.
Central line/Intubation skills are preferred but not required.
Alternative experience may include experience in Noctural inpatient settings with desire and openness to learn new skills.
