Job Summary
Job Description
To our prospective teammates,
I’m the medical director for Kaweah Health, located in Visalia, California. I have been a part of Sound Medical Group for five years and part of the practice at Kaweah for a little over a year. I’m proud of the critical care practice we have built. I welcome interest from experienced hospitalist NPs and PAs desiring a career change to explore an opportunity with our group. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:
People
- We are a closely knit, established team of ten physicians and, soon enough, four advanced practice providers (APPs).
- Our team is involved with numerous work groups, including practice guidelines, code blue committee, and ICU celebration of life committee.
- Several team members live in Fresno/Clovis and commute. We also have team members who commute from Los Angeles.
- Our location is the gateway to the Sierra Mountain Range. We are about an hour from Kings Canyon, Yosemite, and Sierra National Forest. We have a year-round Mediterranean climate with access to excellent hiking and outdoor activities. The low cost of living and exceptional schools make for a wonderful place to call home.
Practice
- Kaweah is a 600-bed level III trauma center and a stroke center with 310 inpatient beds. We provide care in a 21-bed MICU, 20-bed CVICU, and 42-bed ICCU.
- We are adding two full-time day Hospitalist NP/PAs to our Intensive Care Unit team to round on lower-acuity patients in the ICCU from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- The NP/PA will round, transfer, and discharge patients from the ICCU. There will be no ICU procedures. The Intensive Care Physician will see patients with higher acuity/ICU levels. The hospitalist NP/PA will have teleICU MD support.
- This is a perfect opportunity for hospitalist NP/PAs looking to get exposure to the ICU. You’ll be part of a cohesive team of critical care physicians and APPs.
- Hospital Medicine experience in the scope of an ACNP-BC or PA-C is preferred. New-grad ACNPs may be considered who have extensive ICU nursing experience and ICU clinical hours from the ACNP program. We can consider training new-grad ACNPs with such a background.
- Salary range (15-day shifts per month) is dependent on experience $129,600-$183,600.
- We offer relocation assistance.
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
- We’re a community-minded team that supports involvement in and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
