Job Description

Last Update: 10/26/24

To prospective teammates,

I’m the medical director for Sound’s hospitalist practice at MultiCare Auburn Medical Center in Auburn, Washington. I have been a part of Sound for over two years and welcome interest from physicians and advanced practice providers coming out of training or desiring a career change. I want to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider your next steps:

People
  • We are a closely knit, established team of 14 physicians and two advanced practice providers, with the support of a clinical performance nurse.
  • Our group of physicians and APPs is diverse, with various training and experience backgrounds.
  • Team members must have some level of stewardship and involvement in committees, the hospital, and Sound Physicians’ objectives.
  • As a group, we are very engaged and find time to gather in small and large groups for special occasions in and out of the hospital.
Practice
  • We welcome the challenge of complex cases, working in an open ICU with 24/7 intensivist critical care coverage for backup, daily rounding during the day, and being available by phone at night (our team is not expected to do procedures). We do respond to codes and rapid response.
  • Our team hosts monthly gatherings, informative lunch and learn sessions, and celebratory occasions to foster a positive and collaborative work environment!
  • Our academic facility collaborates with medical students, residents, and APPs in a dynamic and rewarding work environment.
  • Acute care trained new grads are welcome to apply; FNPs must have recent hospitalist experience.
  • Most of us like to spend time with our families or outdoors, so a flexible schedule is available, and we cover for each other when we’re out.
  • Expected annual salary based on experience is $150-170K.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • Growth and development are key features of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.
