Job Summary
Job Description
To prospective physician teammates,
As the hospitalist medical director at Sound Physicians, who oversees Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, Texas, I am excited to invite those considering joining our vibrant team at Sound’s program at Hill Country. Over the past four years, I’ve proudly contributed to the growth and success of our hospital medicine practice. I am eager to welcome advanced practice providers (APPs) seeking a rewarding career change or emerging from training. Allow me to provide a more comprehensive overview of our people, practice, and purpose as you contemplate your options:
People
- Our team is a tight-knit group of experienced, autonomous clinicians who care deeply for our small community and the role that we play in public health.
- Effective leadership comes from the buy-in and engagement of the group. All clinicians are equal in our team, and we work to ensure that equality is respected amongst the hospital medical staff.
- Our team seeks partners that look to grow roots in this community, collaborating with neighbors to provide the highest quality care.
- Methodist Hospital Hill Country is a hospital with deep roots in the Fredericksburg, Texas community. It started as a German settler community, and the hospital previously named Hill Country Memorial was created and maintained by the community’s generosity. The small town feels alive and well within the walls of the hospital. There is nothing like working alongside neighbors to care for your neighbors.
Practice
- As a rural hospital site, we value and engage with primary care clinicians and local resources such as skilled nursing facilities and pharmacies. We prioritize our involvement amongst the hospital medical staff with committee participation and collaboration with the other disciplines to provide our patients with the highest quality care possible for their success and safety.
- Our site is small but mighty. Our hospital consists of a med/surg tele unit and an open ICU, predominantly serving as an IMCU. We possess the major specialties, including GI, that provide advanced endoscopy care, such as EUS/ERCP and urology.
- We collaborate with a few teleservices (pulmonary/critical care, ID, Neuro). Our orthopedic surgery joint replacement program is well known, and we assist surgeons with postoperative medical management. The attendings cover the inpatient hospice service, which promotes a heavy focus on advance care planning amongst our team as we often provide continuity in this small community.
- All the sub-specialists straddle clinic and hospital coverage, so we depend on our close communication to limit gaps and expedite the progression of care.
- We assume responsibility for our patients and regularly collaborate through curbside consultations during multidisciplinary rounds, especially when faced with challenging cases.
- We partner with Methodist to provide exceptional and cost-effective health care accessible to all, utilizing our values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence.
Purpose
- We put patients first. Always.
- Emphasizing growth and development, Sound offers opportunities for career expansion locally and within the broader medical group.
- Committed to community welfare, we actively support and encourage our team members to contribute to the thriving local community within and beyond the hospital.
