RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determines specimen collection required according to policy for ordered laboratory tests.
- Accesses computer/electronic databases as required for patient and test order information.
- Responds to telephone requests for laboratory results.
- Processes specimens according to Central Processing procedure and policy with regards to receipt, priority triage, dispatch and retrieval.
- Performs basic computer systems functions as relates to specimen processing and inquiries.
- Prepares and performs all functions related to the proper handling of specimens which are sent to reference laboratories for testing. Performs training of new staff or students.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma/equivalent and Phlebotomy experience required.
- Prior clinical experience in a medical setting preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson’s clinical entities or at the University. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.
