PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The position of Research Administration Center of Excellence (RACE) Administrative Assistant will be responsible for working with assigned departments as well as their RACE Associate Director to perform clerical activities. The position will perform support functions for RACE Grants Administrators, RACE Associate Directors, and the RACE Director to ensure the delivery of excellent customer service. The Admininistrative Assistant will be provided an individualized opportunity to develop a career path while receiving exposure to and training in various aspects of research administration, specifically: reviewing travel reimbursement reports, position controls, and lab expense charges (e.g., Fisher and Life tech); tracking invoices (e.g., PSA and subawards) and position controls; creating PO requisitions; running queries and financial reports; filing; ordering supplies and other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of assigned team.
The Administrative Assistant is an entry-level position to a research administration area that requires limited background but incites ongoing interest in the field of research administration. This is a full-time position that will strive to meet the research needs of the center while reporting to the Associate Director, Post-Award of the assigned team. The Administrative Assistant models and fosters behavior that establishes a culture that values the staff/faculty partnership and is consistent with the values, goals, and objectives of the enterprise/department to create an atmosphere of trust, cooperation, accountability, empowerment, and dedication to the research mission of the enterprise.

- Ability to work independently in a team environment, be flexible and accountable, prioritize tasks, while having a way with people.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Research Administrators, Associate Directors, the RACE Director, and a variety of other constituents within and outside the Offices of Research Support Services.
- Ability to multi-task and steward simultaneous projects with vying priorities and within established timeframes.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in communicating with a broad range of audiences through various mediums.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s degree in General Studies, Business, Finance or Healthcare Administration, ore related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Previous experience in an academic healthcare area preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Computer skills in a PC/Windows environment including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as demonstrated by application materials and previous experience.
