Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; High School diploma or GED required

AND

Experience:

  • 2+ years of clerical/customer service experience required
  • Experience in a library setting preferred

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):

  • 2+ years of clerical/customer service experience.
  • Ability to use and learn basic computer software and systems. Strong customer service skills.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.

Job Summary

Assists in overseeing daily operations in the library's circulation unit, including opening and closing of the building. Coordinates and processes interlibrary loan requests. Responsible for managing reserves and the maintenance of the library's book collection. Provides assistance to library users in these areas and general patron assistance as needed. Ability to work an evening and weekend schedule.


Essential Functions

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Assists in the operation of the circulation department by providing direct service to all patrons. Resolves problems related to circulation. Responsible for opening the library and/or closing the library in conjunction with library staff or on one’s own.
  • Assists in filling interlibrary loan requests from Jefferson faculty, students and staff and from outside organizations, using both the ILLiad and EZborrow systems.
  • Oversees the book collection shelving process and supervises part-time stack attendant.
  • Oversees the collection inventory process on a rotating basis.
  • Makes reports of lost or missing items.
  • Works with acquisitions/collections librarians to reacquire or remove items from the collection.
  • Maintains course reserves, updates LibGuides, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
