We are seeking a certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its Emergency Medicine team on a locum tenens basis. This role focuses on delivering high-quality care in a 12-bed emergency department with approximately 18,774 annual visits. The position is ideal for providers with regional proximity or commuting availability who can contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Provide emergency medical care to patients with acuity levels 2-5 (no fast-track cases).
- Collaborate with a team of physicians and advanced practice providers to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Handle an average of 24-26 patients per shift, ensuring thorough evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Participate in daily shifts: APP coverage from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Supervise other advanced practice providers as required.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation using the Medhost EMR system.
- Support hospital goals of low admission rates (8%), transfer rates (2.5%), and AMA rates (1.2%).

Qualifications
Must hold or be eligible for licensure in Alabama or through the IMLC (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact).
Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (ATLS not required).
Minimum board certification for specialty is required.
Prefer candidates with limited work history and no malpractice history for ease of credentialing.
Working Hours
APP coverage: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Full physician coverage: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
