Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Physician Assistant to the Emergency Medicine group at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health. South Brooklyn Health is a redesigned health care campus featuring the new 11-floor Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital which provides emergency care, modern labor & delivery suites, and state-of-the-art surgical services. The new Health & Wellness Institute offers outpatient services—from primary and preventive care to specialty services for children and adults—all designed to keep our community healthy and accommodates more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually.

The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

Opportunity Details

The Physician Assistant will work in our Emergency Medicine Department.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Performing history and physical examinations
  • Ordering diagnostic tests based on assessments
  • Developing treatment plans, Prescribing drugs and other therapies as needed
  • Making referrals as necessary
  • Consulting with supervising medical provider when appropriate
  • Counseling patients and families regarding care
  • Reviewing and responding to referrals from within and outside the clinic
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Precept and evaluate physician assistant students rotating through the Emergency Department.

Qualifications

  • BLS/ACLS certification
  • NYS License Required
  • NCCPA Certification Required
  • Cultural sensitivity to a diverse and under-served patient population
  • Must have proven ability to work in a team environment
